Kakubin was first created in 1937 by Shinjiro Torii, Suntory's founder, and first Master Blender. Though initially named "Suntory Whisky," it was known lovingly as Kakubin, or "square bottle," due to its unique design. That name and square-cut, the tortoise-shell design have remained for more than 80 years, a symbol of Suntory's commitment to unwavering quality.
