Midori is a sweet, bright-green-colored, muskmelon-flavored liqueur made by Suntory. It is manufactured in Japan, United States, Mexico, and France, although it was made exclusively in Japan until 1987. Midori is usually 20–21% alcohol by volume. Its name is the Japanese word for "green".
As it is extremely sweet, Midori is not usually taken "straight"; it is generally used in a cocktail with lemonade, fresh lemon juice, lime juice, pineapple juice, or orange juice. Sour flavors are often combined with it to balance its sweetness.
Tasting Notes Aroma: Clean, unaged with a medium intensity of honeydew melon, cantaloupe, green apple jolly rancher, and banana. Palate: Sweet with a full, luscious body with youthful, medium-plus flavor characteristics of fruit with candied honeydew melon, candied cantaloupe, and green apple jolly rancher.
